answers to your dog cremation FAQs

Saying goodbye to a pet is never easy, and can be one of the most difficult circumstances of our lives. Our pets are members of our families, and we want to honor their lives and passing on to the next with the same respect we show our loved ones when they pass.

We at Companion Memorial Crematorium understand you likely share many of the concerns and questions others have about dog cremation at our location in the Catskills. This FAQ post highlights some of the most common questions we’re asked. But because we understand you likely have unique concerns, we welcome you to reach out to us with any questions you may have.

Dog Cremation FAQs

Which services do you provide?
This is by far the most common question we get at Companion Memorial Crematorium. Since December 2005, we’ve offered our Catskills neighbors reliable, compassionate, and expeditious cremation services. We do so by providing a pristine and welcoming environment, using only state-of-the-art equipment to ensure an efficient, dignified process.

But we provide more than just cremation. We understand that saying goodbye to your believed dog is an emotional, challenging time. Each member of the Companion team is dedicated to helping your family achieve a sense of closure during this time. Whether you choose a private, individual, or group viewing, you can have the peace of mind that your pet will be treated with dignity, each with a range of prices to accommodate your specific needs.

Why cremation over burial?
Each decision is a personal one, but cremation offers pet owners a number of benefits that aren’t available with burying their beloved pets. Cremation is an environmentally-friendly choice, leaving a smaller footprint than traditional burial processes and placement. It’s also a more cost-effective alternative to burying your pet, and still allows you and your loved ones to say goodbye to your pet in a dignified, respectful gathering.

Cremation also gives you the added peace of keeping your pet’s ashes in a variety of urns or boxes. This process can help give you the closure you need without truly leaving your pet.

Do you provide pet insurance?
We’re proud to provide pet insurance through Warrior Companion, a nonprofit that is dedicated to providing pet insurance for disabled veterans’ service animals. Companion Memorial founder and veteran, Jack Bodolsky, learned years ago that many of America’s service members were forced to sell personal possessions to pay for their pets’ care. This is because veterans who are not 100% service-connected disability are not eligible for VA coverage, meaning that they cannot receive VA assistance in the care of their service animal.

Warrior Companion pet insurance helps our veterans afford the critical care their pets need while they are by their side. This helps our veterans and their pets live longer, dignified lives that may be more difficult without pet insurance to cover essential care, like trips to the veterinarian. Coverage helps ensure you and your pet have a long life together, and when it’s time to come to Companion Memorial, you know your pet received the care they needed when they needed it.
